Don’t forget to remeber the little things…

Mom–THIS is what it was like for you and I.. For I remember… My first memories are of you holding me during Hurricane Hazel–singing to me and tickling me-to make me laugh… Farther down of you milking Bossy the cow and squirting me with warm milk–making me laugh… I remember you letting me stand on a chair and showing me how to peel potatoes–and hold the mixer to make cake batter– Jump to age 13 when i got braces and you made me green peppers stuffed with cottage cheese and other special lunches just for me– Then me as a mid teen when we used to sit on your bed on Sundays and read novels together…. And then how you helped me on my wedding day by throwing a grand soirée at the farm for the reception. .. And then how OROUD you were of me when your grandson, my first son, child of your child, come to us From there it was woman to woman—for you gave me that respect.. And I finally felt sooo grown up.. Until I was 29…you, only 49…and then you were gone.. Mothermurder Thank you–for being you… Your Pammy….Your J…

Lessons From My Mother

Lessons from my Momma…

When I was little—I was full of excitement–all the time—for the future.. My mind was full of visions –of a life far beyond the farm we were fortunate to be raised and nurtured on.. My dear, precious mother would look in my eyes..and talk to me –without moving her lips– She told me to be.. -Unafraid..of becoming whatever I dreamed of–in each stage of my eternity -Unrestrained..in sharing my love and beliefs–spreading my word and the bits of knowledge and experience I gathered over my lifetime.. And -Unapologetic if I stepped beyond boundaries and over thresholds others thought a woman of my station should ever imagine. What a gift she gave me… Thank you, my Guardian Angel. My precious Mother. For being there–as you are even today…Always THERE.. heart emoticon

Lessons From My Mother

I was a Grasshopper..and my Momma told me—–

When i was a little girl I was a Grasshopper to my Momma..She spoke to me all the tine and I listened..Right up until i was a mid teen– The first gift she bestowed upon me was the love of words–and books,,and writing down my thoughts every day..and she always spoke to me–when i was reading…or writing.. She told me in words I could understand, even as a mere kid of 7 when i began to remember that.. Every day she taught me what to expect from life–IF I only allowed myself… to live it fully..Which I do. My Momma told me that — Life is a beautiful thing–that there is magic and miracles all around us–if we only open our hearts to it..and listen–watch–taste-feel..smell..and realize then what a gift we had in all the love around us, too. And be grateful EVERY day with the gifts bestowed upon us..And I am She told be to always love the sound of music and the feeling of how it made me feel when i danced to it–or just took it in my heart when I was sad or scared or lonely. So now I dance. She told me to never be […]

Lessons From My Mother

Never hesitate in life

I never really realized it before but my mother was an amazing philosopher. She was ‘just a little farm wife” raising her 6 kids, jobs on the side as she looked after her brood. The classic mother-female of the 50s and 60’s. But, as she was busy just being her, Mom talked to me–she looked at me and loved me and talked to me, even when I was in my tender years. I began to pay attention when I was in my 7th year. And I remember.. One of the hundreds of infinite number of little nuggets she imparted to me as this kid was that, in years to come when I grew up, I should never, EVER hesitate in life– I can see her now as she said ‘You’ll understand when the time comes, Pammy.” And then that Mona Lisa smile came to her lips as she touched my face with gentle fingertips. She also said that, when I felt a burning inside and a need for something defined, I should start planning that SECOND how I was going to make that happen. And to not GIVE UP ON IT until it happened. She also stressed that I should NEVER put things off—to not […]
